Breathing

Correcting your breathing pattern is at the core of any recovery process - everything from normalizing blood pressure and digestion to promoting better sleep.

importance of proper breathing

We breathe about 22,000 times a day, and the muscle responsible for that action is the diaphragm. Imagine doing 22,000 biceps curls a day?

With improper breathing, our diaphragm can become dysfunctional and cause various issues - lower extremity swelling, constipation, varicose veins, acid reflux, disc herniation, headaches, increased heart rate, etc.

By correcting the breathing pattern, the body is able to engage the parasympathetic system (which is responsible for relaxation), reset and normalize blood flow & heart rate, reduce muscle tension, and improve digestion. Sometimes all it takes to feel better is to take a proper breath
